March 3rd, the day I will be dead to the world.

Oh sweet Jesus am I ever looking forward to March 3rd, even more so than I have been for the last few months. You see, being the die hard hockey fan that I am I suffer quite a bit with my move to the eastern United States. The hockey coverage here to be quite honest..... SUCKS! If I wanted I could watch about 97% of all the New York Ranger games but they just happen to be a team I despise. I'd rather do without hockey at all than follow the Rangers.

At the beginning of the current NHL season I searched for days to try and find how many times I will be able to watch my beloved hometown Vancouver Canucks this year. As it turned out I was able to watch them play in Boston in November (only because we drove an hour and half to my sister-in-laws house in Mass), again when they recently played in New York against the Rangers (Canucks lost..... ohhh the humanity), and finally on March 3rd against arch rivals the Colorado Avalanche. I kinda figured a while ago that March 3rd would mark yet another day when I could watch the Canucks lose on live television, after all Colorado is a powerhouse team loaded with superstars.

When the Canucks and Avalanche play each other it can get ugly. Hitting, fighting, scrapping, slashing, high sticking, cheapshots, potshots, and punches thrown all before they even sing the national anthems. These guys HATE each other and it always leads to a great game to watch.

Now add some spice to the mix..... muhahahahaha. A couple of days ago my Canucks paid a little visit to Denver to see how the Avalanche were doing. From watching the highlights and reading the stories I can see that it was a typical affair between these two teams. Lots of intensity, everybody finishing their checks, hitting, hitting, and even more hitting. Then all of a sudden a "no-name" player from their team lays a vicious elbow to the face of our superstar captain and sends him sprawling to the ice bleeding from the forehead and suffering from a concussion. This is a big no-no. Vancouver is one pissed off hockey team right now and oh man did I ever get goosebumps when I realized that the next time they play each other is on March 3rd, and I'll be able to watch this game live.

If you are not a hockey fan yet circle this date on your calendar and see what this game has to offer. I won't miss this for the world and I refuse to be interrupted while watching it. If I get asked to worked overtime on this day I'll quit my job. I'll be right in front on the TV, all the blinds will be drawn closed, the front door will be locked, and I'm turning off ALL the phones. For approximately 3 hours on March 3rd.... I am dead to the world.

Attention Colorado: Let's get it on!!!!
