The Final Countdown

So here I sit reading the news on the internet, literally two hours before the scheduled execution of death row inmate Michael Ross. I just can't believe there is such controversy over killing a man who has admitted to killing eight women.

All you ever hear on the news is how the justice system needs to be tougher or how judges are being too lenient when a major crime occurs. "Throw the book at him!!", they yell. "Set the standard", another will demand. "We need our laws to act more as a deterrent".

Well be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

I'm a big believer in capital punishment. When handled properly I feel it can send a huge message to the general society that if you do the crime, you MUST pay the consequences. Why there was hundreds of hours, millions of dollars, and an uncountable number of tears shed for this guy is truly beyond me. He needs to be put to death ASAP and this needs to be on public display.

What gets to me the most is what I am currently reading on the pages of USAToday when I see that "Death penalty opponents have warned that an execution in liberal New England could have a domino effect across the region and make it easier for other states to put criminals to death."

SO???? That's the way it SHOULD be! Why has it been over 45 years since an execution has taken place in this region when there are currently seven others on death row as well? As soon as Michael Ross had flat-lined they should wheel his carcass out and bring in the next guy. What better way to tell everybody, "Look what will happen to you if you viciously kill multiple innocent people for no just reason!!"??

I would like to ask the people trying to stop this execution to consider two very recent events the happened right here in Connecticut. In case one a mother, stepfather and grandmother are being charged with torturing 3 children ages 12 and under. They tied them up in the basement with duct tape then proceeded to punch, kick, slap, and starve these children. This had been going on for quite some time before the truth came forward. In case number two a 7 year old girl was found stabbed to death in her school shortly after being dropped off by her father. Don't you see that if by killing Michael Ross it starts a domino effect then that's a good thing? People who pray on the innocent, especially those who can't defend themselves, don't deserve the right to live on and be a daily reminder to the families of their victims.

One hour and 46 minutes left Mr. Ross. If anything good is to come out your actions I hope it's the realization that the death penalty is a vital part of our future.
