March 1st, 2006
Time sure is flying, we're already two months into 2006 and I'm still writing 2005 on my checks. It's only 67 days until I'll be back in Vancouver to attend my sister's wedding! Ugh, what the hell is going on here?
For those of you who don't know, I quit my first job in the metalwork industry and started my current job back in October. Out of all the things I've learned I think the most important is that NOBODY in this industry is mentally stable. The Swiss Screw Machines that I set-up and operate drive you absolutely nuts for a good part of every shift. Most days you feel like you're banging your head against the wall trying to fine tune a specific dimension of the part you're making just to be unaware of something else going out wack. It really is a lot more mentally demanding than I expected and it's no wonder the demand for skilled people is so high..... who in their right mind would want to do this day after day?? The sad part about the whole thing is that no matter how bad a day I've had, I still enjoy my work very much and look forward to the future. It must be the daily demand to tackle these challenges in hopes of coming out a winner that keeps me going or, like I mentioned before, you have to be some sort of nutcase. :)
One of my co-workers, Rich, started dating one of the girls from the secondary department shortly before Christmas. They are both single parents and both recently turned thirty. Well to everybody's surprise (I'm sure for Rich more than others) she announced that she was pregnant. Yikes! Nobody knew what to think of the situation and some had their suspicions but in the end, Rich is very down to Earth, a hard worker, a good guy, and very well mannered. With that being said the general thought was that hey, at least the baby is coming into the world "wanted". Perhaps not "expected" but at least "wanted". I congratulated them both and Rich seemed very happy about the whole situation and he was even excited to see the pictures from the first sonogram. Well, until it was discovered that she is having twins. Hahahahahaaha. Best of luck to them both.:)
Being politically correct can be confusing at times... to say the least. All you ever hear is "African American" this, "African American" that. It is not ok to describe somebody as black. We as a society need to be sensitive to African Americans and try not to use such labels as "colored", "negro", or "black". Well if that's the case why am I watching numerous celebrities and entertainers celebrating Black History Month on the Black Entertainment Television channel??
Finally, the Olympics are over and it's time to get back to normal life. Sporting events these days are being ruined by science and technology. I tried sitting down and watching some of the events being held and the equipment and clothes being worn by athletes these days is absolutely ridiculous. Aerodynamic suits that they practically paint on as well as sleds, luges, helmets, visors, skates, skies and boots that look like they are 10 years ahead of NASA research make watching these "sports" boring as hell. Basically the winners in each category are determined by who is willing to shave their junk? And with that being the case.... how the HELL did Italy end up with 11 medals??
Bah, I'll stick to hockey thanks.
P.S. -- Happy Birthday Marie!!

I am so glad to see you back, 'bout time eh! About the *black* thing they call us white so fair is fair that whole politically correct drives me insane. Italy probably didn't shower the other teams just gave up. I watched curling, love that game and Canada won. Congratulations to your sister, and the twins, that is kind of funny and sad at the same time. I'll be checking back so keep blogging.
Not sure what is going on in the USA, but in Canada, we say Black not African Canadians FYI: Not all black people are from Africa. We also use Brown, not Canadian East Indian. Even Indians use the term Brown. - Sis.
Hahahaha.....what a surprise when that couple discovered they were going to have twins....a good argument for your Walmart's "Plan B"....my gawd!
